SRS-Portland Presents:
Method Acting
Taught by professional on-set acting coach,
Scott Rogers.

Method Acting is the most misunderstood acting technique in the world. Much of what you read on the internet about it is WRONG. You hear the phrase “very Method” used on set sometimes, to describe an actor’s performance – usually when they’re overacting or throwing tantrums on set or “living as the character” off-camera too. In reality, none of these things have anything to do with the Method. Nothing. Method Acting has been called everything from “brilliant” to “dangerous” (and I believe it can be both)…
BUT, there’s a reason that it’s still one of the most frequently used acting techniques in Hollywood.
And, there’s a reason that celebrities and working actors that use Method every day on set, include some of the most dynamic actors of our time: Christian Bale, Cate Blanchette, Marlon Brando, Adrien Brody, Nicolas Cage, Michael Caine, Angelina Jolie, Jessica Chastain, Glenn Close, Bradley Cooper, Daniel Day-Lewis, James Dean, Robert De Niro, Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jane Fonda, Hilary Swank, Tom Hanks, Ed Harris, Anne Hathaway, Dustin Hoffman, Heath Ledger, Matthew McConaughey, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Nicholson, Gary Oldman, Al Pacino, Joaquin Phoenix, Christoph Waltz, etc…
This class will teach you to use some of the tools of Method Acting, in your work. To help you really FEEL the required emotion, reliably, take after take, without depending on other actors, and more powerfully than any technique you’ve ever used. Nothing works as well as Method, when shooting the Close-up. We’ll use Lecture, Q&A, and exercises during this course.
A few of the actors coached by Scott include:
- On set coaching Jason Momoa
- On set with Rutger Hauer
- On set coaching Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin)
- On set coaching Brooke Burns (Shallow Hal, Dog Eat Dog)
- Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows
- Pat Morita
